About Caring Souls for Veterans

Learn more about missions, programs, and how we create impact

Caring Souls for Veterans is a 501(c)(3) public charity established in 2024 by fellow military healthcare professionals to support those who served before us, beside us, and after us. We exist for everyone who served in the military and worked in the military healthcare system.

We serve military healthcare professionals. If you served in the military and worked in the military healthcare system in any capacity, you belong with us.

Caring Souls for Veterans was founded by Dr. Iesiah Harris, a 26 year combat veteran and PhD prepared retired Air Force Nurse Corps Officer. Her work with transitioning service members has been recognized with the 2025 Center for Women Veterans Trailblazer Award and ViP recognition from a Tier 1 Fortune 500 advanced technology organization.

Caring Souls for Veterans operates from the National Capital Region, with our official mailing address at 8401 Mayland Drive, Suite A, Richmond, VA 23294. We serve military healthcare professionals nationwide.

Charity

Learn more about missions, programs, and how we create impact

Our charity supports a wide range of causes centered around human dignity and opportunity. These include children’s welfare, access to education, hunger relief, clean water, healthcare access, gender equality, and community development. Each project is carefully selected and designed to create measurable, long-lasting impact in the lives of the people we serve.

We use a data-driven and community-led approach. First, we assess regions based on need—looking at factors like poverty levels, education gaps, health statistics, and infrastructure challenges. Then, we work closely with local leaders and organizations to ensure that our programs are culturally appropriate and tailored to specific community priorities. We aim to empower—not impose—solutions.

Yes, collaboration is a key part of our strategy. We work with local nonprofits, global NGOs, government agencies, schools, healthcare providers, and businesses to maximize our impact. These partnerships help us extend our reach, reduce costs, and deliver more comprehensive support to communities.

In some cases, yes! We offer limited opportunities for donors, volunteers, and partners to visit active project sites, especially in long-term or sponsor-supported programs. Visits are arranged under careful planning to respect community boundaries and ensure safety. If you’re interested, please contact us for eligibility and travel guidelines.

Donations

Everything you need to know about giving and how your support makes a difference.
Is my donation tax deductible?

In most cases, yes. We are a recognized nonprofit under [relevant law, e.g., 501(c)(3) in the U.S.], which means your donations are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. After you donate, we’ll send a confirmation email and an official donation receipt that you can use for your tax records. If you have specific questions about tax deductions we recommend consulting a tax advisor.

Yes, and we encourage it! Setting up a recurring donation allows you to have a lasting impact with manageable monthly or quarterly contributions. It also helps us better plan and maintain long-term projects. You can choose the frequency and amount, and you’ll receive regular updates showing how your ongoing support is making a difference.

We are committed to transparency and efficiency. The majority of every donation goes directly to funding our programs—such as providing school supplies, food, medical care, or shelter. A small portion is allocated to administration and operational costs to ensure effective delivery and oversight of services. We publish annual reports and financial statements to show exactly where your money goes.

Absolutely! Tribute donations are a beautiful way to honor a loved one’s memory or celebrate a special occasion like a birthday or holiday. During the donation process, you can select the option to make your gift in someone’s name and choose to send them a personalized e-card or printed acknowledgement.

We accept multiple secure payment options to make donating easy and accessible:

  • Credit and debit cards (Visa, MasterCard, etc.)
  • PayPal
  • Bank transfer (for larger or corporate donations)
  • Mobile payment apps (available in select regions)

If you prefer to donate by check or another method, contact our team for guidance.

What is Operation Rewire?

Operation ReWire is our signature three day intensive resilience retreat designed exclusively for military nurses navigating transition. The program is approved for 15.5 nursing contact hours through the Virginia Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

In clinical practice, a Code Blue is called when resuscitation is needed to save a life. Code PURPLE is the Caring Souls for Veterans methodology called when transition success acceleration is needed to protect a career, an identity, and a future. Code PURPLE represents the qualities our community strengthens during the transition season: Positive Mental Attitude, Unstoppable, Resilient, Purpose Driven, Liberated, and Empowered. Every program we deliver flows from this foundation.

The Military Healthcare Honors Program is our national recognition initiative honoring military healthcare professionals who wore the uniform across all branches, all eras, and all roles. Founded on the inaugural Virginia Military Healthcare Heroes Day proclamation of November 13, 2025, the program advances a multi state recognition campaign during America’s 250th Anniversary year.

Operation ReWire is built exclusively for military nurses currently in transition, recently separated, planning for an upcoming transition, or seeking renewed clarity and connection during the transition season.

The nomination form is available on the Military Healthcare Honors Program page. Nominations are open for any military healthcare professional who wore the uniform. Nominators may be family members, colleagues, supervisors, mentors, or self nominators. The form accepts photos and supporting documents directly through the website.
